What is Nodea?
Nodea is a branching AI chat canvas. Every reply from the AI becomes a node you can fork from — your conversation grows as a tree of branches, not one long thread that you keep scrolling. Built on Anthropic Claude (Haiku 4.5, Sonnet 4.6, Opus 4.7).
Think of it as ChatGPT, except every reply is a junction. Don’t like an answer? Branch and ask again — the original stays exactly where it was, side-by-side with the new path.

Every thought you've had,
without losing any.
One thread, scrolling forever.
Edit a prompt and the old reply vanishes. Try a different angle and you fork into a new chat. Context gets lost between tabs.
A map of every thought you've had.
Branch from any message to explore an alternative. Compare answers side by side. Color-code the keepers. Search across every path at once.
Built around the idea
that thinking forks.
Every feature exists to make branching feel natural — not like a workaround bolted onto a chat interface.
Branch from any message.
Hover a reply, hit branch, ask the question a different way. The old path stays put. You explore in parallel instead of starting over.
See your thinking, not just your scroll.
Every conversation becomes a live tree. Drag, zoom, jump to any node. The shape of your thought becomes visible — and editable.
Color-code the keepers.
Tag the answers worth remembering. Skim a project at a glance.
Search across every path.
One ⌘K, every node, every branch. The good thought is never more than a keystroke away.
Three motions. That's it.
Start a conversation
Type anything — a question, a problem, a half-formed idea. Claude responds just like you expect.
Fork any moment
Hover any message and hit branch. A new path opens — your original is preserved exactly where you left it.
Jump between paths
Click any node in the canvas to instantly switch context — full conversation history, no scrolling.
Notes from the canvas.
Field notes on building Nodea, branching as a thinking pattern, and the small craft decisions behind every node on the canvas.

What does Nodea do?
Nodea lets you chat with Anthropic Claude on a branching canvas instead of one linear thread. Every reply becomes a node — fork any node to ask the question a different way, explore an alternative, or compare two answers side-by-side without losing the original path.
What is branching AI chat?
Branching AI chat is a conversation interface where each message is stored as a node in a tree. From any node, you can start a new branch — a divergent path that explores an alternative without overwriting or losing the original. Linear chatbots (ChatGPT, Claude.ai) only let you append, edit, or start over.
Why would I use Nodea instead of ChatGPT?
Nodea is the better tool when you explore alternatives — different tones, different framings, different plans from the same starting point — and you don’t want to lose any of them. ChatGPT is the better tool for a single linear question-and-answer session, or when you need OpenAI-specific features like image generation. Nodea also costs $8/mo vs. ChatGPT Plus at $20/mo.
Can I try Nodea without signing up?
Yes. Nodea supports anonymous sign-in — a real account is created without requiring an email address, so you can open a canvas, branch, and save projects immediately. You can later link an email to claim your data, with no migration needed.
How much does Nodea cost?
Nodea is free during beta with a 25,000-token daily limit and access to Claude Haiku 4.5 and Sonnet 4.6. The Pro plan is $8/month and unlocks Claude Opus 4.7, a 250,000-token daily limit, and early access to new features. Cancel anytime.
Which AI models power Nodea?
Nodea runs on Anthropic Claude models — Haiku 4.5 for fast replies, Sonnet 4.6 for balanced reasoning, and Opus 4.7 for the heaviest tasks. The model is selected automatically based on prompt complexity and your plan tier; Pro users skip Haiku entirely.
Is Nodea open source?
Yes — the Nodea source is MIT-licensed and available on GitHub. The hosted product runs at nodea.ai; you can self-host the same codebase against your own Supabase project and Anthropic API key.
